How switch to HD TV

For years I've had an old ntl PACE black box, and very reliable it is too. However, I'm aiming to finally get an HD TV in the next few weeks, so obviously I need an HD box.

I have the XL TV package and I've had a quick look on the Virgin site. I'm not interested in Tivo for the moment so would I be correct in saying that I need the V HD Box and that it would be free?

How do I get this; do I just phone up VM CS?

I'm hoping that I don't need an engineers visit; will I just take it out the box and connect it to the TV? I notice from the VM site that a free "Activation Fee" is included.

I did this a couple of days ago for a friend of mine. VM charged £20 for delivery.

£20 for delivery, which includes return packing/postage for the old box.

Literally just screw in the cable, swap the card to the new box then phone the activation call centre & away you go!

Many thanks for the info, especially about having to swap the card. It all sounds remarkably easy.
