Do VM install services in bedsits?
A member of staff is due to leave his tied accommodation (they have VM at present) and wants to know if they will routinely install services in the bedsit that he is moving to?

Why doesn't he ask them?

Re: Do VM install services in bedsits?
Depends on what the address is classed as. I think the general rule is if the Royal Mail see it as a single address, so do VM.

I remember as a student a TV rental company refused to supply a TV set to a bedsit where a friend lived, on the grounds that they felt it more likely that the person would steal the TV or leave owing arrears.

The house he is looking at is classed as a single address by the Post Office, but each room has to have it's own TV licence as they all have their own lock on each door.
If VM class it as a single address Ben, will that prevent him from taking VM services?

Multiple accounts are allowed but there are extra steps that need to be followed. VM would need permission from the landlord before they'll consider doing it, and then as with any new install it's dependent on a survey, and it has to be a telephone order as the website isn't set up to deal with multiple account requests.

Re: Do VM install services in bedsits?
The owner of the building is a friend, so knowing him as I do, I can't see permission being a problem.
I guess the best thing he can do is apply (I don't really want him to go with Sky.)
Thanks for your help

Not sure how it shows on the bill now, but the rules are much much stricter than they used to be. NTL used to do the Room 1/Room 2 thing without any checks. Doesn't happen now, and it's not Sales that have final say as whether an additional account is allowed either

Again, stricter rules now than 'years ago'
