Virgin Media Super Hub. Poor Wifi connection

We do not seem to be able to get more than a very faint signal for our Wifi from Virgin Media Super Hub and that is only when we stand right next to the Super Hub. We have contacted Virgin helpline but basically they do not want to know. we asked for an engineer to call round and check there is not a fault with our Super Hub but they flatly declined.. is there a way of testing the strength of signal which would seem the obvious answer, can anybody help please as Virgin obviously do not know the meaning of customer service and unwilling to help even though we pay for this service. We are not very technically adept so it has to be fairly straight forward otherwise we might get lost!!

Re: Virgin Media Super Hub. Poor Wifi connection

Install InSSider on your PC.

Make sure to use 145mbps/ 2.4ghz mode

Use InSSider to find the least utilised wi-fi channel in your immediate locality.

Manually switch the superhub to that channel.

In case you still have problems consider obtaining a proper router and using the superhub in modem mode.

Re: Virgin Media Super Hub. Poor Wifi connection

Mick's advice is spot on. To be fair following those steps does cure 80% of peoples wi-fi problems with the shub. That being said the wi-fi still has very poor range amongst numerous other downfalls so in the long run you would be better off investing in a proper router which you know is going to work in every respect.

Another suggestion on the support forum is to ensure your hub has the correct and supplied power supply.
