Text contains an extra number "7" i.e 07791?

Hi all. Wonder if anyone can help with my problem. My wife and I both have virgin mobiles. The problem is that when she texts me from her phone it adds an extra number "7" to the beginning of text , i.e 07791 instead of 0791 . It only happens with text to me..phone calls are correct and dont happen to anybody else. I rang customer services and they said to delete both numbers from each phone..done that didnt work. They say a fault with wifes phone but how can it be when its ONLY when I get a text?.. very confused..been like this for a year...can live with it but would like it sorted . Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Re: Text contains an extra number "7" i.e 07791?

A friend of mine had a similar problem with his iphone. When he sent text messages to other iphones using imessaging, it came up with a completely different number. He actually got so fed up with it that he stopped using imessaging (Orange didn't have a clue).

Then when I was trying to get imessaging and facetime working on my wifes phone, I noticed something in the settings. You can enter the number that it sends as a caller ID.

Now I don't know what phones you have, or if this is the solution, but it's worth a try.

Are you both with Virgin?

I'm wondering if it could be to do with some Virgin thing, where texts between Virgin phones are free, so it adds an extra number to identify it.

It may be just for free texts between virgin phones. But it is more likely to do with her own number on her settings.

With some phones you can set it up so that it gives a different number on the other persons phone.

Re: Text contains an extra number "7" i.e 07791?

I get the same issue when one of my contacts texts me, we're both on VM. Other contacts on VM come in fine. Is a P.I.T.A. when you want to reply.... having to close the message, open contacts list, scroll to the contact & select IM every time.

Hope some1 comes up with a solution.
