Spooky TiVo

Why would the box change channels or go to menu for no reason. At first we thought as the control was on the sofa that it was being touched.Last night it was on the table as we watch the channels change,no we were not recording or trying to record three channels. In fact it was recording only one ,while watching a recording. swapped to a third channel & had to be changed back to the recording we had on. Then went to menu again on its own. Talk about Tivo suggesting what to watch This was around 8pm

Re: Spooky TiVo

The usual answer to this is to blame any other sources of infra-red i.e lights etc or you've conected it to your network and someone else is changing channels for you

I've never had this problem but I do find it ignores commands when it feels like it. It can be fussy on where you point the remote. I use a Harmony One so I cant say how the real remote works but I have had cases of going the menus when it does decide to to go back to the programme I'm watching.

Re: Spooky TiVo

My old Pace box once moved by itself! I came downstairs to find that it had moved forward and people were jokingly telling me the download that occurred that night had been sent too fast!

Another time, whilst watching a programme about ghosts, now/next erroneously changed to "Strange But True"!! I was told that this was from the ftn channel.

Joking apart, whilst I do believe in spirits (seen them) and I think that their presence can affect electrical equipment, these things are often caused by more down to earth things. eg people say that low energy light bulbs can cause problems for satellite viewers and for the old On/ITV Digital.

When I first moved into my house, ATT would often change channels by themselves. A neighbour said that the lady who I bought the house off didn't like long programmes like films and preferred shorter half hour things. We used to say that she was turning the TV over from the spirit world if she didn't like what was on

Ok
1) not on any network.
2) no other infra-red devices in use in at the time. Only the two of us in .
3) the neighbor is on Sky & we have 1930`s brick walls in between us, How ever you never know But never had this problem when we have V+ in this place

Re: Spooky TiVo

Ours has done that too a few times - I think it may be a glitch / network / connection / cable related intermittent issue - somehow.

I will check out the batteries next time it happens. Remote & TiVo for that matter under a 12 month old V+ I guess is 4 years + ( really no idea) & batteries are originals & still fine. Perhaps these are really cheapo`s . (Memo to self No don`t start along that line !!!)

Re: Spooky TiVo

Tivo has been ok but I have had a problem sometimes with my AV unit actually turning itself off. Found out also that me wireless rear speakers were being interfered with by a standard lamp with a energy bulb in it.

Has been installed for around eight months not had this problem before (started in last 48 hrs or so) Nothing has changed in house to cause it ( no new bulbs etc.) Guess it must be batteries

The only change being that you've moved it from one room to another!

When my batteries are running low, it performs the wrong function, although I have read that the V+ does tend to do this sometimes anyway!

Re: Spooky TiVo

Am I the only one finding this thread amusing? If so, then I'm sorry (maybe). Just change the batteries in the remote and see if the problem is resolved. It's not that difficult to eliminate one possible cause of the anomaly.

I think you're underestimating the seriousness of the situation
