Tax reform project running into trouble, say experts
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/poli...y-experts.html
Sorry for third thread on tax but if mods want collate thats fine. Just each have new developments.
This I would say most critical as it effects ALL of us.
That Osborne tax reform hit some trouble as experts give it Amber warning for two critical recommendations. One think wont be issue but will likely delay things for sure. However the second is bigger worry. Wonder what the issue is with data analysis.
Should the pilot scheme be shelved under the issue.
Quote:
The paper says the amber reading “highlighted two critical recommendations which required immediate attention”. Firstly, “the programme director role should be confirmed as a full-time appointment with immediate effect”. Tax authorities were also told that outstanding contracts should be “settled without further delay”. The projects authority is to review the project again “to reassess delivery confidence”.
If progress has not been made, the amber assessment “is likely to be significantly lowered”. The “dashboard” also shows that tax authority managers have identified a problem with data analysis.
The report could hamper reforms proposed by Mr Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary. Ministers insist that the Universal Credit system can start next year.

Point of information - the issue is with the Management Information part of the project, not the actual project itself....

I feel quite sorry for this government. They have stood up to Murdoch (and the media in general)and now less than halfway through tenure they are being bashed by Murdoch's papers. Most governments that have basked in the sunshine of Murdoch approval have at least lasted longer than 5 years before getting a drubbing.
Also it's not just Murdoch's empire that are giving them a beating. The Daily Mail has got it's Doc Martens laced up as well as the Telegraph and a few other tabloids.
So every issue is being picked over for the tiniest of mistakes, some of which I assume can be dealt with with some common sense.

agreed noticed it happens after bad news on news corp with the enquiry. Then we get bad press government then it turns around again.
I am wondering if its linked defacto a war between both.
Both got skeletons on each other this wont end well for either. I think we seeing the result being too close to press.

I can see everything collapsing around us soon. this government has been nothing but a joke and a shambles from day one.
Dave is forever doing U-turns on everything. they're coming up with ridiculous ideas from one day to the next.
I can bet good money that it's all going to come tumbling down around us soon.

We've already had the riots not long after. the others like welfare/NHS/tax haven't really come into effect yet.
they will soon.
