The Government does the wrong thing for the railways AGAIN!
The transport secretary has done a report (based on the McNulty Report) about reforming the railways, sadly it involves cut and does not fix the system!

re: The Government does the wrong thing for the railways AGAIN!
It should never have been privatised. Privatising it just costs more money to maintain.
1.The companies are there to make a profit before anything! That's what businesses exist for!
2. Before they can make any improvement to rail services, they need to make a lot of profit before they spend any 'limited' surplus revenue they have.
3. Private companies couldn't give a crap about you, staff or how comfortable your journey was, the only thing they worry about is if you've paid. They are that greedy, they made it so difficult to allow Oyster cards and TFL passes in London to be used on there services, TFL pays them a fixed fee every year for this, the private companies rather users pay an extra premium to use there services.
The rail network was only privatised along with most other public services to make a quick buck for the conservatives, well they are not going to use rail services, so why would they care?

Trusting the Conservative government to run public transport or anything with the word public is like trusting theif with your bank pin number
They don't have a clue about the UK or about life in general, there on a different planet to society and I just can't wait till they get voted out!

Yes, the railways were soooooo much better under New Labour.....
IIRC Labour did their fair share of privatising during their 13 years of power and entered us into masses of hugely expensive PFI contracts - who was that intended to make a fast buck for? The Tories?

A vast number of services where re-nationalised very quietly, GNER,East Anglia railways,South Eastern and a few others where all re-nationalised until the conservatives got in. It was because of National Express failing to deliver and running out of money.
Again National Express have done it again! With the former First Great Eastern line, they have had to offload it to Govia because of problems.
One thing, I must say that Virgin Trains run by Virgin Group and Stagecoach has to be the most improved out all privatised franchises. For some reason the government removed the Cross Country franchise from Virgin Trains to Arriva, who really messed up the railways up north in the early 00's, just wondering if that was a good idea! I also heard that Virgin may also lose the West coast line, if they let any of those other companies, you are not going to see any improvement to service I will tell you that!

Well it does not matter whether its Labour or the Conservatives because in my mind the Railways should have never been privatised as can we really say we have a better service then we had before privatisation

But the Tories started it, sometimes you just can't easily reverse situations and you just have to continue where they left off. It's like a domino effect on public services.
When it comes to the recession, it is a world wide problem, nothing to do with Labour, well not entirely, it would have happened under the Conservatives.
If you don't run a big business or if you are not super rich, there is no point voting for Conservatives, they are for those people, the clue is in the name! And most people don't take them seriously, especially Boris Johnson haha what a joke! The amount of sillyness that comes out of there policies is just laughable, the are so out of touch!

Highly selective aren't you. IIRC the gap between rich and poor got worse under New Labour but don't let that burst your bubble as no doubt that was the Tories' fault as well. The Tories started it?? So what, Bliar's inept cronies had 13 years, a financial surplus and a massive majority in parliament to do what they wanted and they did precious little about the ownership of the railways and they locked us into far more PFI contracts than the Tories ever did. It wasn't the Tories who sold most of our gold at rock bottom prices and gave gongs to the fat cats who failed us so miserably, it was Gordon Brown! He set up the defective regulatory system (FSA) and was far too busy wining, dining and slapping Fred the Shred on the back to care where the money the City was generating was actually coming from.

Hmmm you know about poor yeah? You can't preach to me about poor when i'm on just over minimum wage,no family lost most of my family members when I was 20 i'm now 22 and it's such a struggle was left with nothing but the clothes on my back,a job and a empty council flat, it has gotten worse since they came in, nothing but cuts! I've seen a big difference in just a few years of them being in.

Who was preaching about the poor? It was your wholly biased, selective and inaccurate political diatribe which amouted to preaching. The facts that the facts and you clearly don't like them because they don't fit your argument. As for your personal comment, well you know nothing about me. As one of 5 children raised by a manual worker who couldn't read/write until he was 40, I know plenty about being poor thanks very much and my old man never enjoyed a minimum wage or any other form of work related benefits.

Both Labour and the Tories are responsible for the mess we are in both on the railways and for people who are not rich
It is about time we fixed those problems, starting with Network Rail taking control of all the TOCs, FOCs and ROSCOs (nationlization though the back door) and ther investment massively investing into Network Rail afterwards
