Changing ordered box
My parents decided to order themselves Virgin and Tivo at the weekend and they have since decided they may opt for the 1Tb Tivo box instead.
Does anyone know if this is something which can easily be sorted before being installed.
I have heard about engineers being able to 'sell' things on the install date but I suppose that would be dependent on them actually having a 1Tb box on the van?

l am sure you will be able to change your order details but other forum members will tell you more as they work for VM.

Call 150 and see if they can change it to 1TB, otherwise the engineer can up-sell on the install, so long as he has a 1TB on the van.

Re: Changing ordered box
Useful tip there DF; honestly didn't know that engineers could upsell on site. I figured their inventory was fixed based on the jobs they have booked for a given day and therefore non-negotiable.
Have VM engineers always been able to do this?

Re: Changing ordered box
It's not guaranteed, it depends if they've got any spares on the van e.g if they've got out for a repair and the box didn't need swapping in the end, or if there was an install arranged that has been cancelled once they are out.
I think something they carry spares on purpose as well

Re: Changing ordered box
Any spare vans eh? So it's like that episode of The League Of Gentlemen where each van has a smaller van inside it, Russian doll style?!

Spares on the van, not spare vans

Re: Changing ordered box
I've long thought that the best way to avoid a Tivo installation cost would be to book a repair for your v+ and then allow the engineer to up sell you a Tivo, but I don't know if this would work in practice?

Re: Changing ordered box
Or speak to CEO's office and try and get all install/activation charges waived. Worked for me.

Re: Changing ordered box
You cheated and edited the post so it is no longer there.
(For the record, BenMcr wrote "spares of the van" by accident.)
