Head of UK border force suspended after allegations that identity checks were relaxed

So even if this man wasn't clued up about this countries immigration issues, he must have been briefed at some point about the required security checks we have in place, what with the ever looming terrorist threat we've all been living under the shadow of for the last 10 years..

Quote:
Staff working for the UK border force are responsible for checking passports and conducting immigration raids.

BBC home affairs correspondent Tom Symonds said sources had told him that Mr Clark had informed Home Office officials that he had agreed to "open up the borders" at certain times - such as in busy periods over the summer - in ways ministers would "not have agreed with".
Quote:
As well as being told to not check biometric passports at some times, it is also thought checks may not have been made against Home Office watch lists, and checks of fingerprints against non-EU nationals may not have been carried out.

According to the BBC's breaking news ticker, David Cameron has just expressed his confidence in Theresa May. She'll be gone soon then..

It's all starting to look a bit "difficult" for her now.

Brodie Clark, the head of the UK Border Force who was suspended last week by the home secretary amid an immigration row, has left the UK Border Agency.
He said he would lodge a claim for constructive dismissal and says the statements made by Theresa May about the situation were "wrong".
He also denied he improperly added additional measures to her limited relaxation of border controls.
He said she had "disregarded my right to reply" for political convenience.
Hmm! What are the odds we are due a second Cabinet Minister resignation..In as many weeks.

Lets hope so.

When the government gets the jitters, they tend not to steam roller things through that might upset public opinion.
