Which laptop to purchase?

Just looking at purchasing a new laptop for general use, Just looking at the 2 following options

DELL Inspiron Q15R Switch 15.6" Laptop

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/dell-in...62071-pdt.html
£400, i3 Proccessor & 3GB ram

OR...

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/dell-in...62122-pdt.html
£480, i5 Proccessor & 4GB ram.

Would it be worth an extra £80 for the 1GB ram and processor power? Or does somebody else have a suggestion!

Re: Which laptop to purchase?

I've never been a fan of computers with an odd number of RAM. I'd go for the added 1GB as 4GB is pretty normal, 3 is on the smaller side.
And you also have the better processor too.

Re: Which laptop to purchase?

Go for the one with the i5 processor.

Also I would take a look on the dell website before purchasing from currys. I have found in the past that their prices are much better.

If you can use Amazon this has an even better processor and is only £430: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005FVOW76/

Personally I was put off Acers years ago. I've had three, and they were all unreliable. I'm not saying they haven't improved now though.

Re: Which laptop to purchase?

I've had 3 acers and the battery has always failed within a few months which has put me off Acer, even though they have been good on performance and price.

Re: Which laptop to purchase?

I had an Acer netbook that had survived being stuffed in my bag and then carted around all the time.

Housemate has it now though as I prefer to use something with a bit more processing power than it had.

The first one has a Sandy-bridge processor, this one doesn't so surely the other one is better?
