Computer did random AOL search

Earlier I was reading an email and suddenly a screen came up saying that I had carried out an AOL search for an AOL keyword which bore no resembalnce to the email I was reading. The search said that this word was not in the AOL directory. I had not attempted to carry out any search and had carried out any mouse clicks nor inputted anything into any search facility on the AOL browser. Therefore, I am wondering if maybe I have a nasty lurking with my computer.

Since this occurred I have done a full scan using both AVG and Malwarebytes and both report no infections.

Any help appreciated.

Do you have AOL toolbar or do you use AOL for anything?

AOL is my ISP and I was using the AOL software.

try running spybot and also try running an online virus scanner JUST incase there is a nasty lurking on ur system that has compromised the Security on ur PC.

Thats probably it then......some setting you aren't aware of is enabled.....probably nothing to worry about.

Many thanks for the suggestion.

I downloaded and ran Spybot and the search wa smore thorough than the search carried out by my anti-virus programme. However, as with Malwrebytes, it found nothing, thank goodness.
