PLAYBACK FROM Ext.HDD.to TV.

Recordings made from USB recorders to USB sticks, cards or HDDs. in many instances are in Format "TS."

Such is the case on my Ext. HDDs and even using a" Xenta Media Player" they do not playback onto the TV.

One can view the content on the HDD,on Computer, by using a converter such as AVC but can anyone advise if there is a means of getting a device which will enable one to play back to the TV.

The Grundig USB Recorder records and plays back to the TV with no problem but other USB recorders using "TS" will only allow playback to the unit doing the recording and even the Grundig will not accept them. Is there a device which will solve the problem.

Re: PLAYBACK FROM Ext.HDD.to TV.

You may find that a number of devices doing these sort of recordings have the equivalent of digital protection on them to stop you effectively making a recording and then copying onto other media and effectively sharing the stuff you have created. It will be a copyright protection type thing. Pain in the backside for a home user wanting to copy on one home device, and watch elsewhere in the home, but thats the paranoia of rights holders for you. It's a bit like DVD playback on computers if often restricted to an output to a screen but making a copy of the DVD for archive becomes a challenge.

Re: PLAYBACK FROM Ext.HDD.to TV.

Firstly. I thankyou ROB for the reply and it not occurred to me, and I expect to many other readers, that use of the USB Recorder system would result in the restrictions mentioned and be due to the reason's you suggest, but now, of course, all is clear and I can see that playback in most cases will only be to the instrument making the recording. Thanks again.
