Copy to laptop

Ho I'd like to copy some stuff from V+ box to laptop for subsequent burning to DVD - Lidl have a kit on sale next week - a Video Capture kit here

http://www.lidl-pageflip.com/uk.html?kid=PZVxxU

Would this do the job? I don't have a DVD recorder so wondered if this would do the job. I just want to keep some of the excellent BBC 4 music documentaries on decent bands rather than run the risk of losing them. Of Course it would be good to free up some space as well.

Thanks for any help.
