Remote Record - 35 minutes beforehand
Just wondering how the figure of 35 minutes was arrived at as the cut off point for setting a remote record?
Surely the box is constantly online using the modem, unlike Sky+ which has to wait for the signal to be beamed to the box.

Sky+ remote record requests generally reach the box within 30 seconds , I experimented while in the house.

Re: Remote Record - 35 minutes beforehand
As with anything, I would expect it's a reasonable figure to give. If they gave a lesser figure and for whatever reason it took longer, there would be lots of complaints

Sky do recommend you set remote records 30 minutes before programmes start though.
I suspect if a Tivo users tries out remote record they will find it hits the box a lot sooner than 35 minutes.

Can anyone verify please?
My original point was that 35 minutes just seems a very specific number.

Yes it does reach your Tivo much quicker than that in my experience.

I'm well aware what Sky recommend but on the many occasions I've set up VIA Android phone , ipad or ipod touch the box has received the command in under a minute. I know this as I very often use the ipad app to view the showcase of TV and set recordings if something takes my fancy , I would imagine TIVO will be the same and the 35 minutes is just worst case scenario.

That is not good enough for a device connected 24/7. It should take seconds. What is preventing this - any ideas anyone?

It could be the type of phone that people have but back to the time it takes in that 15 minutes is good enough for me as people have plenty of time to set a remote recording.

Just tried 3 remote records with Sky+ app and each one was received on the box within 30 seconds , I would imagine TIVO would be received just as quick, and TIVO notifys you of a remote record I believe where the Sky software does not.

Remember it has just been launched and will need tweaking and refining and remember the Sky remote record has been around longer so any bugs and glitches will have been ironed out.
