Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?

Hi, With TiVo now well in the public domain would Virgin Media ever consider launching channels only for the TiVo box? Would this be possible?

Re: Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?

Its entirely possible however with VM trying to make the two legacy platforms NTL/Telewest the same across the whole network, I highly doubt they would ever launch channels just for TiVo.

Can't see them launching channels to a very small part of their user base.

Re: Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?

TiVo seems to be all VM are interested in at the moment, even though it is a very small part of the business at the moment.

Re: Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?

I was concerned the SKY on demand content would only be launched on TiVo forcing non TiVo customers to upgrade to get access to the material.

Re: Could Virgin Launch new TV channels for TiVo Only?

Don't think channels, think content. The most likely way that TIVO users will have more to watch than other VM subscribers is through video streaming of films and programmes. This could potentially open up an unlimited supply of new and old material, with the only problem being Sky's exclusivity deals with the studios. Let's hope the Government starts to regulate very soon to forbid any company from holding onto material to stifle competition. Perhaps that will help to overcome the growing concerns that Mr Murdoch just gets what he wants from the current Government.

The conservatives are here to stay for at least the next 6 year. Virgin will probably be 'Sky via Cable' (or 'Ground') by then because News Corp asked for it, and got it handed to them on a silver platter with no repercussions.

I agree fully re Non exclusivity on movies meaning more choice and cheaper prices but what I don't understand is this

Why do people think that VM will get a better deal with services like Lovefilm , Netflix if it were to launch etc than customers with a PS3 , connected TV or other device. Surely Lovefilm stands to gain more customers on sub free devices.
