cpu fan problem
My stock fan for some reason tonight has decided to go nuts, it seems to like spinning at around 4000/5000 rpm and I dont know why its decided to start doing that as idle is usually around 2500 rpm.
The temps are reading ok on the CPU around 40c and I did take the fan off and replace some thermal compound incase it was that but it hasn't made a difference.
I've tried an external program and Bios and temps are still around 37/40 C CPU usage is ok as well are ram which bothe aren't being taxed. the fan is around 6 months old so shouldn't be that?

Re: cpu fan problem
Don't forget about ambient temperatures. Yesterday was the hottest day for five years in some areas.

Re: cpu fan problem
Yeah I did think about that but I have 7 fans on my case 5 120mm fans and 2 140mm fans so got some good breeze coming through the unit.
2 at the back, 3 at the front and the 2 140mm at the top. It doesn't seem to be doing it today at least so far and I've left it running for a good few hours watching the temps and fan speeds with 3 different programs running monitoring the system.

Re: cpu fan problem
Yeah it seems to have been ok so far, not tried anything yet to tax the CPU though but I did order a better cooler than the stock one.
A cooler master V8

But that just means you were really good at passing hot air through your PC.......

How do you figure that when the 2 top fans on my case are drawing air out and they are 140MM
While the 2 back fans are drawing air out and they are 120mm, the only fans I have blowing in are 3x 120mm fans and they also have dust filters on them cooling the HD's

Re: cpu fan problem
Because unless you have figured out a way of blowing cooled air into the PC on a hot day then you are still dependent on the room temp air to have a cooling effect . It doesn't matter how much air you are blowing in/sucking out of the box.......if the room temp is too high you are going to be drawing in warmer than usual air and find your cpu/gpu getting hotter than usual and hence the fans spinning faster than usual......
