Goldfinch

We've started getting goldfinches around here the last year or so. I managed to get a couple of shots of one the other day, including an incredibly lucky mid-flight shot.

Re: Goldfinch

I remember last year looking out of the window into the jungle (our garden was designed for wildlife so can look a bit of a mess hence the name) and seeing a rather fat Robin.. After grabbing our binoculars (yes we keep them handy due to the amount of apaches/Spitfires/tigermoths overhead) it turned out to be the first bullfinch we've ever seen

Really nice to see British wildlife..

It was a good winter for them at ours. Lovely birds.

Re: Goldfinch

We get quite a few goldfinches around here being having miles of open country pretty much on the doorstep. They're a bit skittish though and won't stop too long on the feeders in the garden so I managed to get a nyjer seed feeder up into one of the trees at the end of the garden with the aid of a 10m roach pole and some creative coathanger bending.. it fell out the other week though when we had those gales so there's a job for the weekend before the natives start to get restless.
