iPlayer "On Demand" stuttering

As per the existing threads on the VM support & iPlayer forum...

http://tinyurl.com/6dru6mk

http://tinyurl.com/6aegujt

Would it be possible for any of the "insiders" to find out what actual progress is being made on fixing this fault, or at least confirm that it is being actively dealt with? Although it's not as bad as it once was, the problem is still very much in evidence and there's been a noticeable silence from the BBC & VM...

Thanks!

Do you know the fault reference?

Most interesting, thanks. So there's no "official" way of tracking the issue now, how very, erm, interesting.

For what it's worth, BBC News last night was as bad as the problem has ever been - the opening minute of the Jerusalem report especially.

Re: iPlayer "On Demand" stuttering

The original ticket was raised for a specific asset, and was closed when that asset expired. At the time there was no reason to suspect other assets would be affected in the same way.

DF: please can you raise a new ticket for this? I can see the problem on last night's BBC1 News at Ten (about 25 minutes in, in the report of the Jerusalem bombing). By good fortune my TiVo recorded this as a Suggestion, so I can confirm the jumps weren't in the original broadcast.

japitts: Can you tell us any other current assets that do it?

Fair enough on the ticket comments.

From a very quick play with a few example programs, a couple of examples are:

The opening sequence of Click from every Saturday morning
MasterChef from last night about 38 minutes in
University Challenge whenever the camera fast zooms into a contestant.

Yeah, I'll get a ticket raised tonight when back in the office.

Thanks Japitts. I'll put these examples in the ticket later.

Re: iPlayer "On Demand" stuttering

There is a ticket already raised, its in the VOD TVNMC queue not sure of the remedy number. Title is something like Intermittent break up of BBC assets. It's a know issue and is currently with Red Bee media who do all the encoding for the BBC.

Re: iPlayer "On Demand" stuttering

Would it be possible to find out what progress (if any) RedBee have made with this fault? It would be interesting to know if they have any "target" for fixing it, although I accept this is something that would never be disclosed.
