Re: Hows this possible??
this is your third post about this!!!
have you checked what speed you are connected via wireless, does your laptop have a wireless N capable card?
have you tried changing wireless channel, there could be a lot of interference causing bad results.
also, post your connection stats just to make sure they are in spec

What are connection stats and how do I find out what Wireless card I got? I haven't got an adapter to connect to the router wireless. It's a Sony laptop about 6 months old.

Re: Hows this possible??
The laptop connected directly shows no problem with your connection.
For your wireless you will get no support from VM as there is nothing wrong with your connection. If you haven't already check for wireless driver updates. Do NOT rely on windows update to do it, check with the manufacturers website or if you have an atheros card go here.
Homeplug speed can vary depending on rating of your homeplugs, manufacturer and age of your electrical circuit.
Bottom line - there is nothing wrong with your connection from VM.

Re: Hows this possible??
follow this link
http://192.168.0.1 log in using username: admin and password: changeme
from there click "advanced settings" under the three red buttons. Find "Connection" on the left hand side, and copy and paste all the information on that page into here.
to find out your wireless speed, click on the connection indicator in the system tray (bottom right of screen) right click your wireless connection (probably "virginmediaXXXXX" X's being numbers) and click status, on there should be a connection speed and signal strength

Re: Hows this possible??
your downstream power levels are slightly low, but i wouldn't say that they would be causing you problems, best to ring in ans see what they say, it could be the cause of your speed dropping, however, I would say that wireless is the weak link

Maybe it's the router but I'm getting a new Superhub on next Wednesday when I upgrade to 100 meg.

well okay, but the wireless on the superhub is notoriously bad, if it doesn't disconnect, it still has a pitiful range

Re: Hows this possible??
Basically, the majority who don't put it under pressure have no problems. Those who do seem to have.
That's about as politically correct I can be about it.
