Advanced Wishlists
I did do a quick search but there were too many results and I couldn't pin down the exact info I wanted
Can someone please remind me how to set up an advanced wishlist; ie one that uses "NOT", ec.
I wonder why this isn't documented anywhere as it could potentially be quite useful.
Thanks.

Re: Advanced Wishlists
1: Create your keyword and select "Done entering keyword"
2: On the "Create Wishlist Search" screen press "OK" on the keyword field
3: Scroll down to the keyword you just created and press either thumbs button to exclude the keyword (adds a minus sign), again to make it optional (adds parentheses), and a third time to revert make it required (removes symbols).
This should work on all of the fields except the "Wishlist Name" field.

Press Info whilst in the WishList creation menu. I think it's in the user guide too.

Re: Advanced Wishlists
I don't think it is in the UG 'cos I had a look before I posted. The INFO page tells you that it can be done, but not how

You're right, it's not in the UG. But it is in the Info page - you need to be in the Create screen, not the main WishList list.

Re: Advanced Wishlists
If you've set a keyword, does tivo look at everything in the show information, i.e show description and cast list? So that, if it is an actor, tivo would pick up any shows about the actor and any films/tv series they are acting in?
Also, I must be missing something, but i don't get the 'optional' setting. If something is optional. it doesn't matter if it's there or not, so why add it?

I believe so, pb, but am happy to be corrected if not.

Just keep pressing either or and it will cycle through the options.

One optional item would be useless, but two or more aren't. See this example from the help pages.

Thanks, spiderplant. I''d actually looked at that before but for some reason concentrated on the other info page that uses San Francisco Bay sports as an example and didn't understand it. Looking again at the example you posted, it makes sense.
Can you confirm that this, posted earlier, is the case?

No it doesn't. As far as I can tell, it only looks at the title and description. You need to use the actor field to find actors.

So, do you need to set two separate whishlists; one for the actor and one for keyword, or do you just set one wishlist that has both the actor field and keyword field with the actor name?
If the latter, wouldn't it only pick up shows that have the actor name in both the description and cast list?
If you made the actor's name 'optional' in both keyword and actor fields, would that work?

Hence a good use for Advanced Wishlists.
eg "Gellar, Sarah and NOT Buffy"
|
If you had "Buffy" I would not like to see what it recorded
