Re: Slowed right down
I've said the same in other posts but I didnt get many comments on it. I said to the installer how fast Tivo was, he said the more thats on it, the slower it gets. I got up to 40 odd % with recordings and suggestions. Tivo got slower, I got the red ring alot. So I stopped suggestions and deleted everything I did'nt want to keep, even recently deleted folder. Im down to 28% and Tivo is fast again. Hope this get sorted soon, otherwise what a waste of a 1TB drive.

Re: Slowed right down
I noticed this yesterday. Had TiVo installed last Saturday. Was really fast, but from last night it started going really slow and the picture froze when switching back to live TV. Had the red ring a couple of times tonight. Only on about 18% as well!!
Have deleted a few programmes and it's down to 13% and it has sped up a little bit, but still not as fast as last weekend.
I have been delighted so far with TiVo, but I'm getting a worrying feeling of the honeymoon period coming to an end.

I now find myself missing V+ features alot, interactive, search in Music OD, the missing mini screen in some menus, very handy and had got so used to it. And my PQ isnt as good too.
And Im paying more for it! I know theres many Tivo lovers here but I wonder what Joe Bloggs make of
Tivo?

Re: Slowed right down
Yes, early this evening things seemed to slow down a lot. I'm only 17% with suggestions turned off. At 10 ish it was fine again. Maybe an update?

Once you record a few programmes you'll get to see it a lot. It's a little spinning circle that pops up in between menus, something to watch whilst you're waiting for the next menu screen to appear. It's the same sort of thing you used to see when you tried to navigate a web page with lots of flash enabled objects using a 56k modem! Progression......

I'm sure there's a joke here somewhere that involves the words 'eating' and 'vindaloos', but don't think I'll go there!

Re: Slowed right down
Could Virgin have forced the boxes to run slow by a update as it seems to be happening with a few of us?

Re: Slowed right down
The reported %free figure where you experience the slow down may be different depending on how many suggested recordings you have. (remember that suggestions are not counted in the % free figure).
Definitely there is a slow down, for me it was at around 35% with ~75 hours of suggestions.
The "good" thing (if you can find a positive in this issue) is that the slow down does not seem to get much worse after the initial crunch point. I have 37% full now and over 200 hours of suggestions and it is still pretty useable.
