Sky Sports News on V+

Just replaced my standard set top box with a Samsung V+ box. It seems that the picture is displayed more close-up than previously on all channels. Normally this is no problem but on SSN it means that the graphics on the left and right sides are cut off. I never had this problem with the old standard box, and re-booting or changing the screen ratio has no effect. Any ideas please?

Re: Sky Sports News on V+

Do you have a widescreen TV or an old 'square' one? Setting the V+ video output to "4:3 letterbox" may solve the problem.

ps. Welcome to the forum!

Re: Sky Sports News on V+

If you're now connecting with HDMI instead of Scart it could be that your TV is using different overscan settings. You may be able to find a setting in the menus of your TV to turn off or reduce overscan (assuming you're connecting to an HDTV of course).

If you post the make and model of your TV someone may be able to help more.

Re: Sky Sports News on V+

The TV is a Toshiba ZH36/37. It's not HD ready so still using scart leads as I did previously withe old box.
Changing the screen ratio to 4:3 on the TV makes no difference. It just makes the picture smaller but still loses the left and right hand edges.

Re: Sky Sports News on V+

If you download the instruction manual for your TV from here, try changing the height and width settings on page 13

Also, is your V+ box set to RGB or composite?

Re: Sky Sports News on V+

Thanks Lew. I'll try changing height and width on the TV. How do I know if the V+ box is set to RGB or composite?

Re: Sky Sports News on V+

Lew - all seems to be sorted now. The display setting on my V+ box was for 4:3 so I changed it to wide and that seems to have solved it. Thanks for your help with this it's much appreciated.
