TiVo Remote Question

I think I remember reading ages ago that the V+ remotes will work with the Tivo?

The reason I ask is we have 2 V+ boxes and 5 remotes (2 for each box - one for each of us so no fighting over it LOL plus a spare). I bought the extra 3 as a job lot precisely so there was no fighting over them.

When I get the two TiVo Boxes installed of course it would be nice to have 2 each again (what's the bad news on the price of the extra Tivo remotes?) but I only plan on sending back 1 remote each with the V+ boxes I'm returning. So my hope is that perhaps the V+ remotes will work some of the basic functions with TiVo? They're the original heavy remotes, not the newer ones that apparently are based on the shark ones.

Any info would be appreciated.

While on the topic I have also read somewhere that the TiVo remotes can control the on/off of the TV like the old shark remotes did - is this true as well?

Thanks in advance

Re: TiVo Remote Question

Not sure about the first part but in regards to the TIVO remote and the TV here you are:

But sometimes the engineer should set it up as the one that installed mine did.

Re: TiVo Remote Question

Yes, the TiVo boxes should respond to some of the remote codes from a V+ remote. Not sure how well it works though

Re: TiVo Remote Question

Great, thanks both Devil I'll keep that link so that I can set up the codes when the time comes. Ben, thanks for that - I'll give it a go and see - basically the second is just for 'himself' to feel he has control of the FF and Pause when we're watching TV together LOL. So if that works great, if not I'll be shopping for a couple of spares.

Re: TiVo Remote Question

V+ remotes work well with TiVo. You might miss the thumb buttons and pause, but it's still very usable. Press Home twice to get My Shows.

Re: TiVo Remote Question

Yay - thanks for that. Now have TiVo's set up and have tried and you are right. Thanks for the tip on pressing Home twice That will save me having to buy spares for the time being!
