Print servers
At home we have 2 HP laserjet printers, mine is connected to a print server but my dads is connected directly to his desktop.
He now wants to connect his laptop to his printer.
So can anybody recomend a wired print server that can accept two printers.

Re: Print servers
What's the interfaces on the printers?? If they both have parrellel then grab a cheap 2nd hand hp jetdirect from ebay (I paid a tenner for the last one I bought which was a 500x with 3 ports)
If not then there are a few usb devices about.. One thing though to look out for is whether the printer drivers like doing bi-directional comms via a tcpip port.. some don't

Re: Print servers
Sorry for not responding sooner, as I've had had crap start to the year.
The Printers are both USB, (HP 1320 & HP 1020)
OS are Win XP, Win XP MCE, Vista Home & Vista Premium.

Re: Print servers
I would have a look at this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135312
I have got it to share a label printer, scanner, and a few other bits from. You can connect up to 5 devices to it including hard drives. I had a look at some of the cheaper ones but didn't get anywhere and I have used Belkin bits in the past and found them to be great. I can now share my scanner and connect it on which ever PC I am using. Same works with the printer.

Re: Print servers
I like the option in post 7, but would like to know if it would take 2 USB printers, and would it work with other non belkin networks.

Re: Print servers
Yes it will and it will work with none Beklin networks. You have a little bit of software you install and you then connect to which device you want to use.

I am looking at that now, but need to know if it will let 2 printers use it.
So I bashed off a message to e-buyer.

I ordered this from amazon on Wednesday, it turned up today installation was so easy even my dad could do it.
1. turn off router
2. plug in ac to USB hub
3. plug in network cable to USB hub and router
4. turn them both on
5. plugged in USB printer
6. install S/W on pc
7. install drivers for printer when prompted.
8. print.
I even tried a USB HDD with a 1080p WMV file and it played with out any problems.
Will try a USB DVD-R/W drive later with a DVD.
I 100% recommend this.
FYI. I have a Netgear WGT624v3 router.

I turned of just in case as I would normally do.
I was also wary after reading reviews.
My only niggle is that kit plugged in is tied to 1 PC at a time.
But with printers it has a feature that enables you to only connect to a printer when printing, then disconnect when finished printing.
