Ok got an old Dell laptop running Slax off a usb stick. Run into a brick wall when it comes to connection to my network. I get into wireless manager and scans the newtork and finds me but there is no simple connect options and the manager that just found the network says out of range
TIA for any help I know little about nix

If no one can help can anyone recommend a different version to run off a flash drive? Ive tried Ubuntu but its a bit heavy for the job
Depends how your wireless is encrypted.
If you are using WEP, you can connect using the iwconfig command - see this thread.
If you are using WPA there is a discussion here. Using WPA with Linux is not trivial - unless it's improved greatly over the past year or two.
