TVOD searching

A problem I've noticed off and on for a while, but certainly getting a lot worse the past week..

TV-OD "search all" option - fantastic, really useful and pretty powerful etc, and great if the letter you want to search for is the first 1 or 2 on the remote. It's hard to explain, but lets say you want to type in an R or an S. Pressing the "7" key 3 or 4 times, but somewhere between the keypress and the onscreen UI, only the first 1 or 2 presses actually work.

Obviously some programs are easier to search for than others, but take, say (thinks)... Royle Family. I've just been sat for 5 minutes trying to get an R, and not got beyond a Q. Slow, fast, big gap between each press, little gap - you name it.

The only thing I can think of is that with the amount of "free space" on the V+ reducing recently (and by about 10/15 hours over the past few days), the box is somehow struggling, and thus needs more time to process each keypress. More time perhaps than the "timeout" between each letter allows.

I was playing with someone elses normal V box (not sure which make) last night and it was lightning fast, no problems at all and it was like I was using a different service entirely.

We've got an SA V+, which apart from a few phantom recordings that need deleting each day, has been rock solid and no problems at all.

Please can someone else say they know what causes this, or that they're having the same problem... :-)

Re: TVOD searching

I had this problem a couple of months ago. Turned out I needed new batteries in my remote control! Worked perfectly after I replaced the old ones.

Re: TVOD searching

The search is excellent the only thing i would like is the ability to say punch in movies and it will search for all movies we use this quite a lot on our humax foxsat hdr and the results are brilliant all movies will come up for the 8 day period good for finding the odd gem.

Re: TVOD searching

^^ I second that. I like the fact it actually searches the metadata instead of the first word of a title like how it used to do when it launched initially - Sky HD boxes have this basic search. I would also like to be able to use search in V+ recordings in future.

Re: TVOD searching

Thanks very much..I would never have guessed this was down to old batteries, but they do say that strange remote behaviour is often this.

Batteries changed and search back to being its old useful self. Now I remember why I was impressed when this functionality was launched,...
