Watching Cable channels whilst copying to DVD

Hi there
Please could anyone advise as to whether it is possilble to watch a cable channel whilst copying a previously recorded programme on the V+ box to a dvd. I have been able to copy a programme to a dvd - but whilst I appreciate that the transfer will take the actual time of the programme I'll have to do any copying during the night. I thought that someone had previously asked this question I did search the Forum but could not find anything. Thanks in advance.

Yes it's possible if you have a Scientific-Atlanta V+, or if you have a Samsung V+ and your TV is connected by HDMI. Only Samsungs connected to the TV by SCART can't do it.
