recording from v+ box and watching tv at the same time

Hi

Is it possible to copy from the v+ box to a dvd hard drive or dvd without having to watch it?

I have the samsung v+ box and a Sony dvd r (its about 4 years old and does not have freeview built in).

I am connected via the hdmi cable from the tv to the v+ box and by scart between the dvd recorder and the v+ box
Virgin can't help me

many thanks

Re: recording from v+ box and watching tv at the same time

Hi Vivian and welcome to the forum.

Once you have started to download any of the programmes from your V+ recordings you can watch or record anything else you want. Just follow the instructions in the user guide you can find in pdf form from here, just be aware that programmes are downloaded in real time and if you switch off the V+ the download will fail.

The link to the guide is about half way down on the right hand side.

Re: recording from v+ box and watching tv at the same time

Hi

Thanks very much for this. I have done this but once I press the copy button, none of the remote control buttons work - so I can't go to home or view the TV? Or do I have to change the source from hdmi to ext or something on the tv to watch other channels?

Vivien

That seems strange. Have you tried pushing the button marked TV on your remote as that will normally get you out of the V+ menu and return you to the normal functions of the V+ box? Other than that I think we will have to wait for another member to come along and work out what may be happening.

Very strange. how long are you giving the V+ Viviantw, before you try and use other functions?

Re: recording from v+ box and watching tv at the same time

Are you sure you are watching through the HDMI? Sometimes people have both SCART and HDMI connected to their TV and don't realise they are actually watching through the SCART. Disconnect any SCARTs into your TV to make sure!
