Speaker icon
I recently received my new V+ HD box and have problems with sound when trying to copy to my PC however I have just noticed what looks like a speaker icon with a red cross on screen.
First the icon.
It is a small black circle with a white speaker symbol and a red cross on it, the icon is positioned top left of the display. I assume this indicates sound is off on the V+ box, if so how do I switch sound back on?
I have programmed the V+ remote to control the sound on my Samsung LCD TV and that works so I do get sound on the TV.
Trying to copy a recorded program from the V+ box to my PC via a USB capture device I get good video but no sound. I am using a SCART to phono (or are they RCA) adaptor from the DVD SCART on the V+ to the capture device. I get video through either s-vhs or composite.
The V+ box is connected to the TV via a HDMI cable.
Thanks for any advice. From viewing the threads on this topic it seems like many people are having various problems.

Re: Speaker icon
On most devices that's the MUTE symbol, have you tried pressing the MUTE button again??

Re: Speaker icon
How do you get your sound when in HDMI mode? It's possible that the sound mode needed via the scart isn't being transmitted if the HDMI mode is incompatible. However most likely is the means of connectivity you are using from to your PC. s-vhs/composite wont carry sound but do you know that the scart to phonos is wired the correct way i.e. output rather than input?

This is a bug in the V+. Reset the box & it will disappear, It will, however, re-appear at some random date in the future.

Re: Speaker icon
@davethesprayer
Thanks for that info. If it is just a bug I will leave it as is.
@Rob.
Not sure what you mean by 'how do you get your sound when in HDMI mode' The box is connected to the TV through a HDMI cable only, no separate audio connection to the TV.
The SCART adaptor is switchable from input to output, it is set to output.
I know the s-video and composite video won't carry audio which is why I have L/R audio connected.

Re: Speaker icon
I have the problem of the speaker icon but what you need to do is pree the home button on the remote and then press the tv button and the icon goes. I do not know what causes this?

Re: Speaker icon
I thought the random mute icon was something to do with pressing buttons too quickly on the remote? I have had this few times and can confirm the home, tv, combo usually clears it. Other than that a controlled power cycle on the V+ never seems to do any harm......

Re: Speaker icon
Problem solved.
I'm ashamed to say it was operator error; I had selected the wrong audio device in my capture software...duh
Thanks for all the help anyway.
That speaker icon does appear randomly, even after pressing HOME & TV but as it doesn't actually do anything I'm not worried about it.
