Re: What a load of Old Balls!
Absolutely crazy. He gets to stay here because we can't establish his country of origin !!
How is that our problem? He should just be escorted to the border and told to leave. Where he goes should NOT be our worry so long as it's elsewhere.

Re: What a load of Old Balls!
surely though if a person is claiming asylum ,as in this case ,they have to state which country they want asylum from .A person cannot just turn up at our borders and say "i want asylum" without giving reasons and what country is persecuting them ...can they ?

Re: What a load of Old Balls!
Just triangulate the countries he says he's from and drop him in the middle; hopefully it'll be an ocean

Not taking the guy's side here or anything but if we can't establish where he's from, which country should take him in? And which border do you mean? We are an island.....
Ohhh, you mean dump your asylum seekers in Wales and Scotland....no way, you can have them right back.

Last time I looked we still had borders of sorts, despite the best efforts of the EU.
If someone in my home abused my hospitality I would insist that they leave. Where they went would not be my concern. I think the same should apply to immigrants who consistently break our laws.

Re: What a load of Old Balls!
Poor analogy. You can't insist someone leaves unless he has somewhere that'll accept him. Unless you want the guy to live somewhere behind immigration at Heathrow.

I see what you're trying to say but if someone has no official country of residence or it cannot be determined what's to stop the Port Authority of each and every country refusing him access? He'll just come here.

Re: What a load of Old Balls!
We are not the only country that accepts asylum seekers. He needs to try elsewhere or go back to his homeland. Despite his reluctance to co-operate with our authorities I'm sure he must know where he comes from.

Re: What a load of Old Balls!
To claim asylum he has to state the persecution or threat he faces if he is not allowed to stay here and i would have thought mention of a country of origin would have come up during that process. If were seriously allowing this guy to stay because of this technicality seems like a floodgate waiting to open and we cannot as a country allow or afford it.
If nothing else he has proven himself to be a menace to society so charge him seperately on all those offences and give him the maximum sentence for each and everyone i am guessing he will soon remember where he is from rather then stay in prison. We're too damned soft here and it has to change makes me sick when the sick and vulnerable in this country are facing cuts yet we indulge time, effort and money in this sort of stupidity.
