Talking point all the time - clock change
Has anyone noticed that each time there is a clock change, there is always someone going to talk about leave the time change alone.
This weekend the clocks go back one hour.
Whats the point, leave the clocks alone, its rediculous that each time this comes around, they always say it will be talked about in the Commons, what happens, they say it should go on.
What does the members think.

I think we should pay less attention to unimaginative news editors who plan the content of their publications based on a calendar of reliable annual non-stories.

Re: Talking point all the time - clock change
Totally agree on this point especially as the old and feeble argument of kids going to and from school in the dark is a load of pukky. I live adjacent to a school and have to run the gauntlet of parents and their four by fours every morning, I.e. very few kids (that I've seen) actually walk to school, In addition, they finish at around three o'clock when it's still light.
Although the rest of Europe alter their clocks the same as we do, I cannot see why we shouldn't be on the same time zone - if only from a financial point of view - we did it during the last war without any problems! why not now?
Going to work in the dark wouldn't bother me at all - especially if it meant that I could come home when it's reasonably light - when there's still an opportunity to do things in natural daylight.
However this issue is always viewed as low priority from the long trousers in government, so all we can do is suffer with it.
Sigh.................................!

Yes it is ridiculous but failing to do so will only cause farmers in the Northern extremes of the country to moan.

A bi-annual waste of time and money.

But they're farmers. Moaning is in the job description.

To quote the Country Life butter advert 'It's their career choice'.

Or they could use the time sychronisation option in the Date/Time control panel (windows) or preference (OSX).

Not any more
The National Farmers Union for Scotland has said it will not oppose a campaign to permanently move the clocks forward by an hour – if it will benefit the UK as a whole.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environmen...later-campaign
Tbh I never really understood why they were so against it, how much farming actually goes on in winter?
Those that say children are at more risk on those dark mornings might be in for a shock to
There are more pedestrians on the roads in the afternoon, including
more children, who are at 75% greater risk of accident after school than before school
(RoSPA 2006 & House of Commons Library 2007).
Infact there is very little in favour of keeping it according to this report (see table on page 3)

Re: Talking point all the time - clock change
It clearly will benefit the UK as a whole.
The only opposition now would have to come from traditionalists who object to us losing GMT.
