I am looking for a wireless card for a HP ZE4900, has anyone got any recommendations, or even one they wouldn’t mind selling me

Re: Hp ZE4900
It doesn't have one fitted? I may have a couple of internal ones floating around (assuming the supporting hardware is there), will let you know

Re: Hp ZE4900
Nope, none fitted, it does have the little slot thing at the side to put a wireless adaptor in..
Would this fit?

Re: Hp ZE4900
According to this it had a B/G wireless card fitted.
This page has the drivers for both Intel & Broadcom cards, one of which should work.
Or are you after an N adapter - in which case any USB adapter should do, ideally the same make as your router.

Re: Hp ZE4900
Cheer Aragon, it was given to the daughter of my neighbour to help her with her school work, real real sad situation going on money wise etc so I have offered my time and limited skills, Wiping, formating and re installing everything is no issue.
No idea on the router as yet, the mum has made a request on freecycle so we will have to wait and see.
Tis hard to help proud folk..

I have just taken the slot cover off and there is no card in it, also the two little power push points that you normally see in there anit there, it just looks like a big ram slot.
On the keyboard there is no wifi icon, or fn key for it.

Re: Hp ZE4900
The 2 wires are to the antenna which usually goes around the screen, they're not there at all I take it, tucked in somewhere? Usually even on the lesser models, all the parts are there

Re: Hp ZE4900
Nope, had a hunt in and around, no wires..
Turns out this was a Staples staff one that is no longer required so maybe it was fiddled with..

Re: Hp ZE4900
There is a service manual for the ZE4900 on the HP site.
The Wireless card should be underneath, accessible via a cover next to the memory module. See around page 76.
Otherwise, get her to ask for a USB wireless adapter on freecycle.

Re: Hp ZE4900
I possibly have a couple of internal cards laying around here but they would only be effective if the antenna was present

Re: Hp ZE4900
If the original wifi really is missing, Amazon have a PCCard Type II G Wifi adapter for £11 that should fit.
