V+ recording

Just wondering, I only got my v+ installed towards the end of last footie season. I had recorded some matches that had went into extratime..Unforuntately it seems that V+ records from the pulled down EPG which isnt updated to allow the extra time to be recorded. Is this something that is being looked at? Im sure there has been previous posts about this.

If you are recording from the EPG it will just record as per that and if a match goes into extra time it will not know that and finish at the specified time.

If you are recording a match that may go into extra time either set a manual recording as in the old days of the video recorder or set the machine to record the following programme, either will work.

Thanks for that but Is there any plans to have a fix for this as I think sky autmatically records the programme if it should over-run. It's not a pain to record the next program as I learnt from my orignal mistake.

Maybe if Spiderplant reads this he may be able to advise if this is planned for a future update.

If you click v+ then choose set time for recording you can make the recording over-run as much as you want i.e start at 12:30 and stop at 17:00. I doubt virgin will sort this since there are plans for tivo

Help! I am having a simlar problem.
I have just come from sky (because of the 50m broadband) but I am very disappointed with the v+

The extend recordings feature we have set to add 10 minutes at the start and end of programmes, but in the vast majority of cases 95% it just records the standard programme with no extra time added. we are missing the end of just about everything we record, usually only a couple of minutes but enough to render the system useless.

have I made a big mistake coming from sky ? or am i missing some thing obvious?

I have checked the clock -the box time seems to match all other clocks in the house (certaibly it is not out by 10 minutes!)

The only thing I can think of is that you are then recording something that is on immediately after.
How it works is it will add the padding to 1 programme but if you are recording something immediately after it drops that option.

So record BBC1 7-8 but actually 6:50-8:10.
Set up for BBC2 8-9 which you have set up as 7:50 - 9:10.

Due to the overlap it removes the 'padding'
This is a bit of a bug as sometimes it removes and sometimes it doesn't. Also sometimes due to the padding it thinks it has a 3 recording clash but if you cancel and manually set it to record again it will work.

Fingers crossed Tivo software sorts this as it is 1 of the biggest issues for me along with the double recording of programmes...oh and the recordings I can't delete without formatting the box.

ive started to record the following programme myself after a few of the football league playoffs went to penalties and i missed them.
worsre still during one of the grand prix race this year , the safety car came out 2 or 3 times and the race was stopped and started 3 times and with about 10 minutes break in between meaning my recording ended a half an hour before the race finished.

It's really one of these mistakes you should only make once. If you know a live event, as sports events often do, you record the program after it. Easy to do and easy to delete if it wasn't required.
