Photo Gallery Sites or Software
I have been using Coppermine Photo Gallery on my webspace for quite a while now... but after it irritated me yet again, & after various upgrade & installation problems for v 1.5.x, I've ditched it & am in need of something else.
Menalto's " Gallery" sounds good... Anyone here used it?
Does anyone have any recommendations of any other gallery software?
Ideally I'd like something I can integrate visually with Wordpress... I don't care about DB integration, just having the same style. I could do that with Coppermine by using a port of the Wordpress theme I use (K2), and apparently Gallery can be themed to fit in easily.
Failing finding replacement software... Is Flikr any good? Any recommendations of similar photo gallery sites?

Re: Photo Gallery Sites or Software
I'd be interested in if anyone comes up with anything too... I'm currently setting up a Drupal based website and wish to have a gallery integrated as tightly as possible, however the add-on modules seem to be absolutely useless.
I have used Coppermine before but its just too much for what I need.
Matt... I had that setup last week...didn't like the themes and they looked quite hard to customise and get right...
It was quite nice in functionality though and pretty quick moving around links etc... If you can be bothered putting the effort in to make it look right then have a go

Re: Photo Gallery Sites or Software
I'm dropping coppermine myself soon on a phpbb3/joomla site, it's bridged over to pbpbb3 but as I'm transferring over to kunena to keep it all on one DB so I'm looking at joomla intergrated alternatives like joomgallery
We also use photopost on another site that we needed reliability on and intergration with vB, but it's not free
Matt, are you looking at something fully featured or just something that a user will upload to and use it within articles?

Cheers
@haydnwalker - I'll give it a go, at least. I can't see it annoying me as much as Coppermine has recently.
@Kymmy - Just a straightforward gallery. Albums, thumbnails, etc. Not bothered about multi-users (although they all do seem to feature that anyway).

Re: Photo Gallery Sites or Software
Matt, I have just published a website with a very simple javascript slideshow with nice transitions, have also a site with a gallery written in Flash with simple forward/back buttons and also another site that uses Lightbox, all very different and simple yet nice looking.
Can show you if interested.

Re: Photo Gallery Sites or Software
you could also just create a category with child categories in wordpress and post each photo as a blog post

Flikr is my fall-back option, but I'd rather have something I can use on my site & integrate (at least theme-wise) with Wordpress.

Yes, that'd be good thanks
No fan of Flash-sites, but it would be good to see what you've done.

Too many photos for that, I think. Probably a bit too long winded.

Still a few things to sort out, but I'll definitely be going with NextGEN.

Re: Photo Gallery Sites or Software
 Great...
Just gotta find a new gallery myself now Did have joomgallery lined up but it only does PHP links to files and my new forum software will not allow them due to security risks so need one that will give pure JPG links

Re: Photo Gallery Sites or Software
OK, so it's taken me a couple of weeks to actually get round to sorting it all out... my excuse is that I'm lazy.
As it is so far, using NextGEN:
http://www.smokingmirror.co.uk/photos/
I prefer it to Coppermine. Less of a PITA, plus the fact it's a WP plug-in makes it fit the rest of the site perfectly, as it simply displays within WP & uses WP's theme. And now I also have permalinks for each gallery, instead of "blahblahblahalbum=x" or whatever it was with CPG
