Orange Broadband & Mcafee

Hi,

A friends PC needs reinstalling, not a problem. What is a problem is that the internet is connected to an Orange modem (recent) and it also has a recently installed Mcafee antivirus.
Does anybody know anything about the Orange broadband system? Does it require a login everytime it connects or is it always on? From past experience my friend tends to instantly lose any log in information so I don't have much faith in them being able to find it again if it is needed after a reinstall.

Also will the Mcafee reinstall if we completely reinstall with a new version of winXP? Would the registration still be valid or would it require buying a new copy of anti virus?

Stuart

Re: Orange Broadband & Mcafee

Any modem should operate the same at the PC, as far as I`m aware, I tend not to put any software on from the issuer, (Orange).

If you do a clean install (Assuming you have the original registration) then you will loose Mcaffee. Personally, I hate McAffee software.

Re: Orange Broadband & Mcafee

You can re-download the McAfee software by logging in to your friends account at http://uk.mcafee.com/root/myAccount.asp with Orange it will continue to work via ethernet without the need for any logon information, except if they want to access their orange e-mail account.
