Video files keep reverting back

My video files keep reverting back to be opened by winamp. I prefer using VLC for my videos. I have tried the "open with" option and clicked VLC player and make this my default player for these files but it keeps reverting back to winamp.

I even went in to the options and changed it via file type but its reverted again. I am using Windows 7 Home

Any ideas?

Cheers

Re: Video files keep reverting back

Go into Winamp / Options / Preferences / File Types / Highlight what you want winamp to play and then make sure the Restore files associations at Winamp start up is un-ticked.

Then go back to the open with and associate Vlc to your video files.

Job done..

Re: Video files keep reverting back

in vista and win 7 goto control panel change to default view in vista or view by icons in win 7

Select default programs set file type associations in there
