laptop screen not coming on

Hi

I have an acer aspire one netbook and it was working perfectly last night. This morning I turned it on an the screen did not come on I tried using the caps lock etc but the caps lock light does not come on. The power light comes on when i turn it on and the battery light comes on when I plug it into the mains.

Any ideas?

Take out the battery and power lead, leave it 30 minutes then try again.. If still not working then remove all addons (drives including the HDD) and see if the bios screen pops up. If yes then add a drive at a time to see if it's at fault.

Re: laptop screen not coming on

I never said external drives If the HDD is in a bay then remove the Bay, also the same with DVD/CD, the laptop should still post without a HDD but then should error out on the bios screen. At least you;'l be able to tell if it's a drive fault or not. As with any diagnostics unless there's a definate sign that a component has gone down then normally it's a process of illimination

Re: laptop screen not coming on

No not that I can see any bios reset or bios battery. I bought her back in Jan 2009 from ASDA for £150. the exact model is an Acer Aspire One series model number : ZG5. It has a 160gig sata hdd.

Re: laptop screen not coming on

If you have an external monitor or a VGA input on a digital TV try that. It could be the screen is faulty or the machine itself.

I tried my pc screen and tv and nothing. I just noticed that the HDD light does not show any signs of activity. Hmm why would I suddenly need to flash my bios? I'll dig up my receipts. I wonder if it will still be covered as I did remove the linux OS that came with the machine and dual boot ubuntu and win xp.

THANKS VANMAN!!!

I did a quick google as well and it seems to be quiet a common problem with these netbooks just giving a blank screen. I followed this youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHkGkw9EE8c) and it worked perfectly.

Least I don't have to open her up.
