Hi, I`m using outlook 2007 and all is fine, except now, each mail I send appears immediately in my inbox and requests a read receipt!!!
Any suggestions please.

Re: Email Problem
I was going to point you to the settings information on the VM help pages, but help systems seems to be out of action in the area covering email tonight. I think VM is updating the information because it wasn't 100% reflecting reality.

Re: Email Problem
This is becoming a common problem with regards to email for anyone with ntlworld.com email addresses. There are a few posts under ntlworld migration.
Sending mail (SMTP)
SMTP server name: smtp.ntlworld.com
SMTP SSL: Enabled
SMTP port: 465
SMTP authentication: Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)
SMTP username: Full e-mail address, e.g., richard.branson@ntlworld.com
Receiving mail (POP3)
POP3 server name: pop3.ntlworld.com
POP3 SSL: Enabled
POP3 port: 995
POP3 authentication: Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)
POP3 username: Full e-mail address, e.g., richard.branson@ntlworld.com
POP3 SPA (Secure Password Authentication): Disabled

Re: Email Problem
If we use Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook aren't the settings the same for incoming and outgoing such as pop3.blueyonder and smpt.blueyonder.co.uk.
I prefer to use Microsoft Outlook, and I was told when I called there is nothing I need to do, is that correct though?

Check your tracking options in Tools>Options>Email Options>Tracking Options and check "For all messages I send, request:" there's 2 options read and delivery receipt. Just make sure they are not ticked. Don't know if it will solve it but worthwhile checking.

blueyonder emails are not troubled by the settings but I believe the migration on them hasn't started yet. Still got my blueyonder at the old settings for the time being (pop3.blueyonder.co.uk on port 110 and smtp.blueyonder.co.uk on port 25 no ssl required). Once the migration has started I believe that you will have to change to port 995 on pop3 and 465 on smtp with ssl required but will wait and see for myself. Saying that though I now have google mail receiving all my blueyonder emails for me so I won't need to change them

Hi,
Thanks for your response, but neither read or receive receipt are checked.

Hi Tommason41
Any chance you know how to take screen shots of your settings. If so I'll send you my email address and have you to send them to have a look over them.
To be on the safe side if you do send them blank out your details (email address and such like) and i'll review the settings but that was the only place I could find anything to do with read requests.

Re: Email Problem
From the above info it would seem you haven't ticked to use SSL for POP and the port is wrong.
