ntlworld email spam help

I use windows live mail, but recently my ntlworld email address on the virgin media site has been putting more and more into the spam folder and I never see this on my windows live mail service.

Is there anyway of this spam going to windows liove as it is moving emails I want to see! The virgin mail seems to mark 90% of my mail as spam!

Thanks

If you login to your ntlworld email addy via the webmail interface you can adjust the spam filter settings.

Re: ntlworld email spam help

Please note though, if you are still on the legacy ntlworld.com system, this will change to the Google platform.

Next to the search mail drop down box is a link saying create a filter.

The best way to train your spam filter is to click on the report spam tab when you discover some spam in your inbox.Plus if you go to the spam folder you can click on the not spam option tab to remove anything that you do not consider spam. The spam filter learns to use your preferences this way.

Re: ntlworld email spam help

Since being "upgraded" to the new superdooper google system I havent recieved a single email, Every email that has been sent to me has been marked spam and put into a spam folder by google mail.
After an hour on the phone to virgin today I was finally told tuff, if I want to recieve email then I have to sign into webmail and mark every individual email as not being spam because the new spam filter can not be changed by the user. Virgin and Google have decided to censor my mail and they have decided every email is spam unless I state otherwise.
I see this as being no different to my postman deciding which letters I should get to read and then hiding the others until I go and find them.
So now if I want to read my mail I have to log into each of my 7 mail accounts seperately and then go into the spam folders to get my mail.
If this is progress they can keep it.
I did not ask for them to police my mail.

you should have 3 tabs above your inbox - messages, addresses & settings - click on 'settings'

In the list under 'mail management' click 'spam mail'

choose the appropriate option - either 'don't filter spam' or 'deliver to your inbox marked as spam'

click 'ok'

This is based on the legacy ntlworld webmail interface - if you have been moved to the Gmail Apps platform I can't help - I'm still on the 'old' system

Then the answer from Virgin tech is to keep logging into webmail and marking each email as not being spam.
Virgin has decided to keep you safe by sending all your mail to a spam folder whether you like it or not.
There is NO way for you to change any settings to stop this happening and Virgin Tech say its out of their hands too. Which kind of makes using Outlook Express or anyother mail programme pointless now because the only way I can get my mail is to log into the crappy webmail

Follow the instructions here to turn off the webmail spam filter http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...Q/td-p/51665#7

Re: ntlworld email spam help

The spam filter is one that learns from you..the more you report spam the better it is.Also the more you say something is not spam it learns not to put legit mail into the spam folder.

Unfortunately it can't do the job through OE.

Personally I can live without OE.

I preffer to have all my mail sent to OE and then my own spam filters will weed out the rubbish. Not have Virgin class all my mail as spam and have to keep logging into webmail to retrieve my mail.

With the old system I was given the option of using Virgins spam filter or not, now I am forced to use a spam filter I dont want and go through the hassle of manualy checking 7 mail accounts several times a day because of the spam checker which has been forced upon me.

Try the link I posted above and add the filter and all your mail will go to your client.

Re: ntlworld email spam help

Cut off my nose? How am I cutting off my nose?
Today I havent recieved 1 single email, I have spent hours logging into different accounts to try and find the missing mail, but because I preffer to choose which mail is spam and not a big company who has no interest in my business that means I am cutting off my nose?
I never asked Virgin to police my mail and never expected them to do it.
I decide what is spam and what isnt.
How that is cutting off my nose is beyond me.
