Question Windows Explorer (Vista) behaving badly

Having problems lately with Windows Explorer, keeps hanging/freezing. Then I am told it is not responding. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Windows Explorer (Vista) behaving badly

Hmm not so good then Paul, it only seems like it has started recently over the last couple of weeks. Thought there could be a fix.

Re: Windows Explorer (Vista) behaving badly

it's possibly a program or update that was recently installed ,vista can be very sensitive to some software ,try doing a system restore back to the earliest point and see if that helps

Have a look at the free xplorer2. It's a substitute for windows explorer. Once you get used to it you'll never want to go back.

Re: Windows Explorer (Vista) behaving badly

Can I suggest doing a Hijackthis scan and posting the details online (have a scan of it first and remove anything that may give away privacy though there shouldn;t be anything in there that does so)

Re: Windows Explorer (Vista) behaving badly

Check event viewer for application hangs it might give you a clue as to what is causing it

Might be worth creating a test user and logging into that it could be some kind of corruption to some user files and a new user could be clear

Running processes look remarkably clean and tidy.
Do you know what is WOT.dll?

That's the only thing that catches my eye at a first glance.

Thank you DaiNasty, yes I do know what WOT is, I find it very useful. http://www.mywot.com/

In the meantime I have downloaded your alternative application, I like it, and I'm going to use that in future.
