Throughput questions

Hello again everyone,

Now my 50Mb is running properly I've discovered some differences,

I have the following:-

Eee box with 1.0Gbps card best speed is 37Mb

Think pad laptop with 1.0Gbps card best speed 51Mb

2 x home pc's with 10/100 cards and best speed on both is 35 - 37Mb

Since I thought a 1.0Gbps card would definately handle 50Mb the Eee box seems to disprove this...

Does anyone know if you can alter/download drivers etc to change this, I've run the tcp optimizer on all 4 machines.

Failing this is there a LAN card that can handle 50Mb I can buy and disable the onboard ones in the home pc's?

Cheers

Re: Throughput questions

even the basic 10/100 should be able to handle 50mb. I was using a generic Realtek 8139/D PCI 10/100 card and getting 49mb quite hapilly.

ur laptop and Eee box u dont say if ur actually connecting them via Ethernet or wirelessly.

Re: Throughput questions

Sorry yeah everything is wired til I get it running right.
It was the engineer yesterday who brought it to my attention and said the through put on lan cards and routers etc can vary.

Im still using my TPlink router because I havent time to set the free one up yet, but it handles the 50Mb no problem.
