VPN problems

Hi

First post here.

I've recently had VPN installed on my work laptop to enable me to log onto my work network at home....except it doesn't work.

The VPN client is called X-Kryptor.

I had the VPN tested at the work test facility and it connected fine, I have also tested it using another external Wi-Fi connection and it works fine.

However, when I connect it at home, it doesn't work. I connected my work laptop directly to the cable modem using ethernet, and according to the IT bods at work, their logs show that I do manage to log on and authenticate, but then get booted off.

They haven't a clue what the issue is, so I contacted Virgin in case there was something they could adjust their end and I was told that they do not block VPN, and that there were no settings that they could alter.

Given its a works laptop, I can't change any of the settings on it myself, nor access any of the X-Kryptor logs.

So essentially, I am stuck, I think - I can't change any of the cable modem's settings myself can I? I read somebody say that there are issues with "encapsulation" (whatever that is) which meant that he had to get a new cable modem from NTL (as was).

My home PC connects absolutely fine btw.

I ensure that I restart the modem before connecting to the work laptop, and when I run ipconfig it shows that an IP address has been assigned.

So, any possible solutions/ideas????
