Smile How to set up Freeview with dvd recorder to record off Virgin cable box

Hi All,
I have a freeview box with a dvd recorder and would like to connect it to the Virgin box to record virgin channels, before I attempt this....can this be done?
At the moment both boxes are running into the tv via av1 and scart connector(freeview) but can only tape freeview channels, would like not to have to subscribe to virgin+ box, I am not too technically clever so I would be really grateful if someone can explain in simple terms for me!!!
Thank you in advance!!!
Helen

Welcome to the forum. You posted this in our articles forum, which would have prevented anyone answering. I have moved the post to the correct forum.

Re: How to set up Freeview with dvd recorder to record off Virgin cable box

1. Get a scart lead, connect it from the VCR Scart socket on the back of the V Box to one of the spare Scart sockets on the DVD recorder.

2. Put the V box on the channel you want to record.

3. On your DVD recorder change the record channel to the Scart input and then record, job done.

Step 3 is different on all DVD recorders so I cannot tell you exactly how to do this.

Bear in mind this is nowhere near as user friendly as a V+ box. You have to put the v box on the channel you want to record and then cannot watch another channel (you can watch freeview separately in your case).
