Analogue TV :Leicester

I am asking this on behalf of an elderly colleague.(who does not use the internet)

Location : LE3 6HB Leicester

He currently has Virgin Media Analogue TV (plus phone) and has heard a rumour that the VM analogue TV in his area is being switched off on Feb 1st.

He has NOT received any correspondence from VM on this.

There is currently no fibreoptic in his area ( as confirmed by the postcode check on the VM website ) but a neighbour says that they have spoken (last week) to a VM engineer working around the corner ( ie NOT in his street ) who says work is currently being carried out in the area to upgrade to digital.

He has contacted VM by phone ( a call centre in India perhaps) who are just quoting what it states on the Postcode Finder search on the VM website....ie..no fibreoptic at the moment. They were not very helpful when asked about up to date information on any current work in progress in the LE3 area and could offer him no other VM department or telephone number to ask further questions about this.(Also they could not tell him where to contact the VM Complaints dept either !)

Is there any source ( telephone , webpage or email ) to confirm accurate and up to date information on this as the current VM analogue cable TV is his only source of TV ....and Feb 1st is only a couple of weeks away .

Thanks

Re: Analogue TV :Leicester

This thread seems to suggest that work is under way in several areas of Leicester.

Eg 24th Sept 2009

I saw the cabs being worked on on Woodville Road and Glenfield Road a couple of weeks ago. It was definetly contractors and not VM staff doing install etc. Ive had it from several sources now that we will get service very soon.

Thanks for the reply.

I was hoping for a VM source of the latest , up-to-date information for this specific area of Leicester.

It`s a pity the VM website doesn`t offer this information in their Postcode Check Search.

Thanks again

Thanks...but they seem to use and only quote the same result as on the VM website Postcode Check Search.....which doesn`t necessarily mention any of the latest, up to date situation of any work in progress.
