remote code for stb please - silver remote

Hi,
I have the silver remote and a pace stb.
Im not sure which model it is, but it is an older one.
It is not V box or V+ box.
I am in a former Telewest area if thats any help?
I have searched and searched and cannot find the remote code to control the volume on the stb.
Can anyone help please?
TIA

MK5.ESCORT

ps. I want to control the volume on the stb, NOT on the tv.

Re: remote code for stb please - silver remote

Unfortunately those remotes are not able to control the STB volume.

You could try this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/telewest-virgi...item2558213af5
or one of the black 'shark' remotes that are used with Pace boxes in some ex-NTL areas.
(Please don't buy from anyone selling multiple remotes on ebay)

ps. Welcome to the forum!

hi spiderplant. thanks for replying.
ah well you saved me wasting my time at least lol.
ironically we had one of the remotes pictured in your ebay link but virgin (tw at the time) took it away when we got a faulty box replaced
Looks like i'll have to try and get another one then.
Will the black shark remote definately also work, even though im not ex-ntl?
sorry if thats a noob question lol.
and thanks again

One or two of the more obscure buttons on the black shark may not work properly (settings, interactive, favourites?), but I'm pretty sure the volume will.

Re: remote code for stb please - silver remote

I am using a Logitech Harmony 885, which can directly control the volume on my STB (ex-Telewest, ScientificAtlanta Explorer4200DVB).

The original SilverRemote could only control the volume on the TV, but the Logitech Harmony internet IR database contained commands to directly control the volume on the STB. This is quite useful for listening to radio in the kitchen over a cheap pair of wireless box having a fiddley volume control knobs.
