SkySport HD on V+ ?

Hi,

Are SkySport HD channels available on VirginMedia?
I'm planning to upgrade to the V+ box only if the SkySport HD channels are available on VM.

Anyone has them?

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. There are no SkySport HD channels on VM. You've got ESPN in HD but that's it.

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

Welcome to the forum.

The whole Sky Sports HD saga is a very long winded story, try searching on this forum for more info.

For latest info on VM channels try looking at the 'Coming soon to Virgin TV (2010)' thread on the cable TV forum.

Btw the HD side of the V+ is only part of the box. Its the recording & pausing live TV that is also a winner with it.

It will truly revolutionise your viewing habits

PS. No, I do not work for VM sales

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

Thanks gavinc and Joedm24,

I don't really watch TV so much and It's only football matches I'm interested in. I have a 40" HDTV so the HD experience on football matches would be great. I don't care about recording or pausing and they're no use to me (but maybe my girlfriend likes them! she watches TV a lot)

The bad thing about ESPN is that they're not showing La Liga and Uefa Champions League which are my favorite leagues as well as the Premire League.

I think I'm going to upgrade to the V+ box, and also subscribe to Sky Sports so the matches that ESPN is covering I'll watch them in HD and the ones that they're not covering I need watch them on SD on Sky Sports.

Thanks mates.

To coin a old phrase that long serving members will remember

We are getting all Sky HD channels on Monday

When you do finally get Sky HD will Virgin be footing the bill for it or do you see a charge like Sky coming, unless you somehow get Sky to provide you it at no extra costs.

My opinion is that once there are more free to air HD channels & HD STB's available, eg. the proposed new VM HD non PVR box and Freeview HD, Sky will find it more difficult to ask its customers for that extra £10 per month they currently charge for their HD pack. Especially seeing as they are the only company that charge their customers for HD.

So hopefully this will not lead to prices going up for VM customers.

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

I would be happy to pay alittle extra providing I get all Sky HD channels however the last post seems to highlight that HD will become the forefront of packages and therefore I would also expect new packages or subscriptions to compete with each other.

Perhaps the TV XL subscription will be increased and HD would remain free for all on this package. A believe there is already a charge for HD if on a lower package so perhaps this will increase to persuade customers to upgrade to XL TV.

It is true VM charge £5 per month for having a V+ box if not on XL TV package but if you roll back 12 months, this price was the same however we only had 1 HD channel (BBC HD)

Prices will always go up year on year, thats just the way it is with most if not all services unfortunately

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

I upgraded my service to XL and I added a V+ box and Sky Sport Collection subscription... the whole thing added £31 to my bill and a £75 one-off cost.

That wasn't that expensive though (Going from M to XL on TV + Sky Sport Collection)

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

I think a major argument for me is that, Sky and VM put there prices up, and up, until it gets ridiculous.

There is going to come a time, when customers are going to say enough is enough, and go freeview.

Re: SkySport HD on V+ ?

Providing there are still different packages to choose from at different prices then we will all stick with subscription TV. Freeview will simply never be enough for most.

If by that you mean the Sky generated stuff.....probably not soon, although you may find this of interest.
