50mb Bizzare reoccuring fault

Hey all,

Got an intresting issue that appears to be occuring here, 2 weeks ago my 50mb was installed and worked fine from the offset, i had the modem directly plugged into my PC, got the advertised speed and was well happy.

Then i had to set up the wireless with the free D-Link DIR-615, this is when the issues occured, randomly the broadband would drop off and the router and modem had to be reset to get it back. Wednesday night i couldnt get it back at all.

I had a dig around and realised everytime it was happening, the Virgin modem was loosing its upstream and kept trying to re-establish connection, we had an engineer out today who turned the power down on the line (how that would help i dont know) then he left without testing it

Got home from work, lo and behold, its still buggered, sometimes it works for afew hours, sometimes a few minutes, then i realised if i plugged the Virgin Modem directly into the PC, eliminating the router, it would work fine!

Why would the Router screw with the Virgin Modem?
