Still stuck on 2mb after calling tech support

My Internet connections been slowish & unstable past couple of weeks supposedly at the time of the scheduled 2-10 update. Just got of the phone with tech support and he confirmed that we've been receiving 10Mb for a while now and offered no other support but that my computer was to blame. Typical virgin Ive already clicked the Gofaster link on virgins page re-configured the Ethernet wires in modems advised by tech support & rebooted the modem

All browser cache's, cookies, temporary Internet files aren't stored and are set to clear automatically after each session of using Internet Explorer, I don't use per-to-per file sharing websites so I'm not being trafficked managed, Computers completely up to date no virus's or performance problems expect Internet speeds countless re-formats tested on several different pcs/laptop speeds still worse then what I had before the scheduled updates took place

Re: Still stuck on 2mb after calling tech support

Your uploads are more or less correct for 10Mb but all of those Speedtest, net links say you are getting 35Mb plus so give this speed test below a try.

If you are a Virgin Media customer then the best speedtest is from the links below.

click on these 2 gamefiles battlefield_2142_demo.exe and bfme2demo_english_final.exe and save them to your desktop, and then wait a couple of minutes then write down the transfer rates on the files that are running add them together then multiply them by 8 and you will get a truer download speed.

Remember to stop and delete the files.

i.e : 250Kbps X 8 = 2Mbps, 500Kbps X 8 = 4Mbps, 1250Kbps X 8 = 10Mbps, 2500Kbps X 8 = 20Mbps

Then add 10% to the final figure to account for any processes running on your computer.

Battlefield Demo: 440KB/Sec + Bfme2 Demo: 280KB/Sec = 720KB/Sec x 8 = 5760

I have the same problem as you. I have rang virgin 4 times!! my connection is still 2mb, its downloading at 270kbs max. It starts off at a high speed then just drops straight away. Virgin are sending an engineer round next week.
If this problem isnt resolved im going to get rid of virgin. Im fed up of the rubbish service they provide.

p.s this site is good for checking your speed http://www.thinkbroadband.com/download.html

These speed test websites are all KAK on a Virgin Media Cable Connection.

Any customers i get through who have tried these speed test sites... it's an automatic No go and direct to a decent website to try a proper download test.

No if you called in and spoke to me over slow speeds then I would use the site in this link as it is the only one that is supported by Virginmedia at present. http://www.virginmedia.com/testmyspeed/manual.php

You are an ADSL customer going by your previous post so did you try the Availability checker

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/maps.php

Which can give you an idea of the speeds available in your area.

If you receive your broadband through a phoneline you are not a cable customer.

Is the modem a combined modem/router then you are are Virgin National customer and all you have done is changed the branding of your connection.
