Transfer domain name
Hi
I'm thinking of moving to VM for broadband.
Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer my exisiting domain name to VM so I can use myname@anybody.com instead of myname@virgin.com for email etc.
If so what is the process?
Cheers

Re: Transfer domain name
Who is hosting your domain name at the moment? Or is it currently pointing to your VM hosting?

NTL don't host user names
As Graham's just said, have you got hosting with the domain name, most hosting companies will include email in the package. Otherwise you may be better buying some email only hosting.
On the "for free" side of things, your registration company may allow you to set up email redirection, ie email sent to you@yourdomain.com is re-directed to you@ntlworld.com.

Re: Transfer domain name
Hi
My domain is currently hosted by PSI net - my ISP.
Still unsure if I move to VM can I still use this for my email?

No, you need to arrange for a third party provider, they will host your domain and provide the services you require.

Re: Transfer domain name
VM do host usernames but only on thier business accounts. If PSI net hold your domain name you'll probably find that they do a hosting package for people not on thier dsl accounts so in essence there should be no change.
Just remember that transfering a domain name involves changing the name holding server, where as hosting a domain name is different. They can be different or with a lot of companies they can be the same..

Re: Transfer domain name
Sounds like to me, the OP has got some forwarding going on to me..
Depends on what hosting the OP wants..
If he wants a "business" service, stear clear of the "unlimited" deals..
