Ofcom allows BT to offer discount bundles
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitalt...t-bundles.html
Ofcom has removed the final aspect of regulation in the fixed-line telephone market to enable BT to offer more competitive communication service bundles.
Fun times ahead lol

Are BT about hit their competition hard?

The last major rules controlling how much BT can charge for domestic phone calls were scrapped today -- 25 years after the company was privatised.

Trouble arises when it drives down quality of those services that are becoming so much cheaper.

I agree that as far as BT's ADSL competitors go, it will be fun times ahead. As BT can simply undercut the lot, including Sky's broadband/telco packages.
But I don't think this will impact on VM very much for two reasons. VM is already very competitive on price. And secondly, VM owns its own network and doesn't (as yet) have to rent it out to competitors like BT has too.
The real fun times happen if BT decide to bite the bullet and invest billions of pounds and sling fibre optic cables from their telegraph poles instead of ancient copper wiring. Then things get really interesting. But pigs will probably fly first before that happens.

Re: Ofcom allows BT to offer discount bundles
Yes Virgin may win hands down on broadband but BT (and many others) beat VM on phone services
And in these days of best value people are going to look at the overall deal

....I agree about VM's phone services. 10+ years after my cable phone was installed, caller display is still not available in my area!

Some BT exchanges don't support Call Sign,Caller Display,BT CallMinder/Answer message notification and even ADSL.
Some Virgin Media franchises have more calling features than BT, in Yorkshire, they have warmline and I heard Call sign is available there.
Quick dial is also available nationally, something that BT has never offered.
Non-BT lines such as Virgin Media,Thus,Cable and Wireless,Verizon,Colt and Opal have a much better sound quality as well.
Call baring on Virgin phone lines is also much better, you have different levels on Virgin Media like this:
Level 1: bars 09 numbers which is free.
Level 2: bars 09 numbers and international numbers.
Level 3: bars 09 numbers, international, mobiles and paging numbers.
Level 4: bars 09 numbers,international,mobiles,pagers,national,0870 and 0871 numbers
Level 5: bars 09 numbers,international,mobiles,pagers,national,loca l,0844,0845,0870 and 0871 numbers.
BT Call baring:
Bars National calls even though they are now the same rate as local calls,Premium rate, mobiles and international numbers. Thats it just one level!
Call baring on Virgin media also blocks calls Cable and Wireless operator services via 100 and 155 to prevent onward call connection which means its preventing call baring from being overided.

Warmline and Call sign are NOT available anymore. I've told you that before

What it looks like depends on your area as per the User Guide here http://www.virginmedia.com/customers...main-guide.pdf
Also there is no free call barring service - unless Premium Numbers are barred as part of the condition of Sale (after a Credit Check)
If you are going to give out information, please get it right!
